VAMPIRE HUNTER EXCERPT-

The full moon lit the night, giving the alley an eerie taint that matched Ryland Thomas’ mood perfectly.

He wrapped the shadows around himself as he hunted his prey. Six months he’d been after this monster—following and watching. Tonight he wouldn’t fail. He wouldn’t be one step behind when the evil was released and the monster killed again.The crunch of the gravel echoed loudly around the walls of the alley where the hunted also was hunting.

The woman who stumbled drunk into the trap had no idea what she was about to face—that her night out on the town was about to turn deadly.

Luckily for her, Ryland had spotted her stalker before it was too late.

A crash sounded and he knew the fight was about to begin. The woman on her hands and knees cursed, slurring her words as she tried to pick herself up after tripping over the stinking trash that had been thrown into the dark.

Ryland tensed.

She was in the perfect position to be attacked.She shook her head as if trying to clear the alcohol, mumbling, “How in the hell did I get out here?”

“Fate.” Her answer came from just further into the dark.

“Huh?” She pushed back onto her knees, her voice shaking with fear as she called out. “Is someone there? Hello!”

Ryland shook his head. The woman wasn’t helping herself, becoming an ideal victim.

“Hello, my pretty.” The man stepped out and glided forwards.

“My pretty?” she asked with a laugh. “I really shouldn’t have had that last shot.”

Ryland agreed. Or at least should have had someone to watch out for her. He silently moved forwards until he was almost level with her, pressed into the hard brick, well out of sight.

He couldn’t move in until she was in danger. It was a rule he lived by.

“Mmm.” The old creature licked his lips noisily. “You smell nice.”

The woman actually sniffed herself.

Ryland wanted to groan. She had no sense of self-preservation.

“I smell like a bar,” she told him, pushing herself up and only tilting slightly before standing.

Her attacker just grinned. “My kind of girl,” he agreed, and stepped closer.

“Whatever,” she snorted. “Where are we? How’d I get here?”

“You came to me. I called and you—my sweet—answered.”He was almost close enough to touch her now.

She turned her head in Ryland’s direction and his breath caught. Oh, she was pretty…beautiful, actually. Flawless pale skin, bright green eyes, and full lips that were made for kissing. He let his gaze travel down and noticed for the first time her full, curvy body, covered in tight jeans and a skimpy black silk top.His body reacted instantly and he mentally cursed himself. He couldn’t fight with a raging hard-on.

He took deep breaths to calm himself, years of training the only thing saving him from giving himself away.

She turned her head back towards the man in the alley with her and Ryland was able to control himself again. “Okay.” She waved a hand around. “Obviously I got lost on the way to my car. I’ll just be going now.”She turned, tripping over her own feet, and as she went down once again her attacker charged.

Ryland rushed forwards only to hear a scream of pain that was much too male to have come from the woman. He threw himself back against the wall before he was seen.

The attacker had jumped back several feet away from the woman. The scent of blood saturated the air.

I hope you enjoyed that small taste of Vampire Hunter and it leave you thirsty for more!

Special Times- 3 years and counting

This months is very special to me and I couldn't be happier to still be able to share it with all of you.

Three years ago, Halloween 2008, my first book ever was published through Total-E-Bound. The story Savage Love was part of the Halloween Collection "Bite Me." Yes my first release was a vampire book.

Even though I have written more shape shifter books then any other genre I couldn't resist the chance to celebrate threes years writting for Total-E-Bound with another Halloween Special as part of The Cloaks and Daggers being released Halloween (Oct 24th.)

Vampire Hunter will be one of four books in the Halloween collection being released this year.

While I believe my writing has grown and hopefully improved in three years it still gets my stomach in knots and has me giddy!

Shawn King walked through the automatic doors of the corporate office building housing McCoy Industries, where he would now work. He’d only been back in town for a month, but he was already starting to go stir crazy with having nothing to do. He’d left his security business in London to come home.

He pushed the button of the elevator and waited. His brother’s mate, CEO of McCoy Industries, had offered him a job as head of security until he decided what to do. Shawn hadn’t planned on taking Mac up on his offer, but he didn’t see much choice. It looked like the only way to get closer to the object of his desire.

Shawn stepped into the elevator and fate smiled at him as he heard the deep command to hold the elevator. He was more than happy to comply.

The man who had haunted his dreams for two years stepped inside with his head down, attention on his briefcase. “Thanks,” he murmured.

“No problem,” Shawn told him, boldly watching as the other man’s head snapped up.

Shawn would have laughed out loud at the look on the other man’s face but he knew that wouldn’t win him any points. Instead, he shifted closer. “I’m back. In fact, Mac has offered me a job, so I will be around…a lot.”

He let that sink in for a minute. He could smell the subtle change in the other man’s body. Kyle had first been uneasy and angry. His scent now included intrigue. Shawn was hopeful that meant Kyle was still attracted.

“You’re going to work here?” Kyle asked, disbelief colouring his voice.

Shawn nodded. Kyle was only a couple of inches shorter than Shawn’s six foot three frame. The build on the other man was good and he knew that under his dark blue suit, Kyle’s body was to die for.

He licked his lips remembering the one night they had spent together.

Kyle cleared his throat and Shawn refocused. “I asked if you really planned on working here.”

Shawn smiled at the annoyance in his voice. “I do.”

Kyle grunted in response. “For how long? How long before you leave again?”

Shawn knew he deserved the scepticism on Kyle’s face but he didn’t like the flash of hurt that showed before Kyle covered it.

Taking a chance, he reached out to Kyle. He placed his hand on the other man’s shoulder and squeezed. “I won’t be going anywhere…again. I’m here to stay.”

Kyle swallowed and Shawn barely held back a groan. The erection straining against the zipper of his khaki pants had to be visible. He looked down and was relieved to find Kyle was having the same reaction to the closeness.

“And there’s something you should know,” Shawn told him as he brushed his erection against Kyle’s.

“What?” Kyle asked, his voice strained.

“I came back for one reason,” Shawn admitted. When Kyle didn’t question him further, he leaned closer to whisper in his ear.

The elevator dinged as he spoke. “To claim you.”

Kyle’s breath rushed out and he blinked. The elevator doors opened but he didn’t move to exit.

Shawn stepped aside to let him off. “I’ll see you soon,” he promised.

Kyle growled in the back of his throat before glaring at him and stomping off. Before the doors closed, he looked back. Shawn just smiled.

She rolled her shoulders and stepped from her vehicle, ignoring his hand. He stepped back giving her room as another man stepped up and drew her attention. Kiley frowned at the guard. She didn't know Wyatt well but he had a reputation of being a hardcore fighter.

"What's going on?" she asked Gray, her eyes snapping from one man to the other. Dread scrawled up her spine as unease settled in her stomach. This couldn't be good.

"He needs to see you," Gray told her quietly.

Kiley shook her head and started to back up towards her SUV. "No." She knew what this weekend was about. She'd seen the many cars which had driven through town on their way up to the compound.

Gray's hand on her elbow stopped her. "It'll be okay. I'll stay with you," he promised.

Kiley's heart sank. It had been months since her presence had been requested at the local Alpha's residence. Always it had been when few people had been around.

"Come on," Gray urged with a gentle tug.

New Year New Goals

GOODBYE 2010 AND ALL THE WONDERFUL THINGS THAT CAME AND HELLO 2011 WITH IT'S AWESOME OPPORTUNITIES!!!

Looking back as we say goodbye to 2010 I have to admit my third year in publishing still has me feeling like a newbie but I love every minute of it.

With 2010 we saw the release of the third book in Th Were Chronicles- Pack territory, a lust bites release-Bid High, the audio and single release for Magical Menage, and last but not least the sequel to my very first release- Fated Love.

With more going on like moving into a new house and huge changes in my day time job I wasn't able to work as hard as I would have wanted when it comes to submitting manuscripts. And I only want to put out what I would read and not let anyone who enjoys my books down so I concentrated on getting out (what I think) were still good books and moved the series they belong to in a good direction or were strong single releases.

Now that I have been able to settle back down I am so excited about what 2011 has in store.

2011- starts out with a bang. The first four months will have a book release through Total-E-Bound!

January 17,2011 will launch the fourth book in the Were Chronicles series- Pack Rogue.

We met Rogue Kiley and Alpha Austin in an exciting addition to the series.

February 21,2011 gives us the next installment of The Corporate wolves Series- Losing Control.

The second book in the series follows three destines mates as they find the balance between love and lust.

March 14,2011 introduces us to a brand new series- secrets.

The first book The Shifter and the Dreamer will take the reader through the struggles of an FBI agent and his runaway partner now Sheriff in a small town.

April 11,2011 will be the release of a single novel- Vamps in the City.

In this book we dive into the world of vampires and their fight against good and evil.

That's just the beginning. I hope to have at least a couple more releases to add to the 2011 schedule.

So as 2010 passes by we can look back with fond memories and forward with excitement on what the new year will bring.

So HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EACH AND EVERYONE!!! I wish the best year of all of you.

TWO YEARS AND COUNTING!!!!

Time flys when we're having fun! That's the old saying but I guess it's true!

Can you believe that 2 years ago this month my first book was published through
Total-E-Bound. Two years... wow!

The book Savage Love was accepted for the Halloween Special Bite me! It was
released in October of 2008 and opened an entire world that I'd only dreamed
about.

Now two years later I can shout from the rooftops that I am indeed a published
author!!! Although my neighbors might complain!

So while I am taking the full month to celebrate my anniversary I thought I

BOOK REVIEW MONDAY- AUG 30, 2010.

Hey Gang! I have two books to review this week. So lets start…

Book Title: Gaven 2 by JC Owens

Book Blurb- Gaven learns that being Vlar’s pupil in all things is a mixture of pain and pleasure. He hates his Finnarian teacher...doesn’t he? Yet his body betrays him time and again, especially when he experiences the sexual ecstasy of a Finnarian bite and the giving of his own blood.

There seems to be so much more in their relationship than either of them can understand, so Vlar calls in his father, a Finnarian prince. What he tells them shakes Gaven to his core and he fears he cannot possibly live up to what Vlar wishes of him. Then when they seem to be on the edge of truly discovering each other, a shadow from Gaven’s past comes to shatter it all to pieces.

My rating- 4/ 5

My Thoughts- If you have not read Gaven. The first book- do so before you read the second. Trust me… you won’t get it otherwise.

I am so pleased with how the author wrote this book.

So many times the sequel to the book doesn't measure up and makes you regret reading it. Not so with Gaven 2.

I had been a great fan of Gaven. One of my favorite MM Ebooks. So when I say this release I just jumped at the chance to get it.

Gaven has grown up a little and is trying to find his place with his new family. His inner thoughts take us through all his struggles and worries and taking the reader for a emotion ride.

So many parts of this book made me smile as we learned more about teaser and the 'eight.'

The change in Gaven's relationship with his family surprised and pleased me.

But it was the fierce and hot love that wraps this story together so nicely.

Book reviewed- Wolf Town by Joely Skye

My Thoughts- I almost missed this book.

The blurb (as you can see) did nothing for the sale. If it had not been recommended to me I probably would have never read it.

But I am glad that I did. It’s a cute werewolf story that is unusual and had a great story line. The author took the old werewolves and added a twist. It was a nice change from all of the others out there.

The story could have been longer… expanded better and I would say it would have been awesome. Still it was good. The ending was a little disappointing, I wish we had had more time with the characters. But who know maybe there will be another.

I am happy to be getting back into the reviews. I already have more lined up for next week. So great books have been released in the last couple months.

When is a story too short???

So, here is something that has been on my mind for a few weeks...

When is a story too short? As a writer how much storyline is needed?

I can admit to writing shorter stories when I first started out than I do now. I’ve come to realize it was because I was uncertain on what was expected in the publishing world more than lack of something to say.

A problem I have started to see more and more is that good authors are writing shorter books and leaving behind too many questions. It’s gotten to a point where I don’t want to buy anything under 20k words in fear of being let down.

I know that is not fair to author who write short stories that are great but really until you buy and read the book there is just no way of knowing if you are going to love or hate it.

I love erotica! Come on, why would I write it if I didn’t love it. But I really don’t want to see a book that has 5 chapters, four being pure sex scenes, and 1 chapter of plot. I want my questions answered. I want to fall in love with the character. I want to know more!

Short stories can be a good relaxing read when you just want to unwind. Sometimes you don’t want a deep plot were you have to follow the story line carefully. But when the book leaves a bitter taste in your mouth, what do you do?

So I’ve gone back through my online library to re-introduce myself to some short that I loved. It has brought back the feeling that short stories can be just as good.

Have a favorite short story that you think others would like?

Or are you a novella/ novel kind of reader?

Just kind of one of those thing I was curious about...

I am super excited to be able to show up once again for Book Review Monday. So much has been happening in my personal life that I haven’t had much time to read. That makes me a very cranky girl! But this week as the weeks are winding down to an almost completed house I was able to get back and reading and writing and have some awesome books to share with you.

Book Reviewed- Dark Horse by Kate Sherwood
Book Blurb- Dan thinks about just driving, leaving the whole mess behind. He's got enough money. He could just arrange to get his stuff and his horse shipped to wherever he's going. Taking off is what he used to do when things got to be too much, and it worked pretty well, really.

Dan Wheeler thought he'd found lasting love and stability with his life and work partner Justin Archer. But when Dan finds himself alone again, still working as a horse trainer for Justin's parents, he has to find a way to accept that his perfect life is gone forever.

Then he meets billionaire Evan Kaminski, who arrives to buy a horse for his younger sister, and Evan's lover Jeff Stevens, a horse trainer who seems to understand more than just Dan's job. Struggling to deal with all the upheaval in his life, Dan finds himself drawn to both Evan's mercurial passion and Jeff's quiet wisdom. My Thoughts- I very rarely give 5/5, if ever.
This is one of the best books I’ve read. I laughed and cried and did not want this journey to end. This is a pretty long book and still as I saw the page numbers going up and up I almost wanted to stop reading so it didn’t end.
But of course I couldn’t stop reading.
Dan is such a fully developed character. This isn’t a book that has a quick threesome and lots of sex to carry the rest of the story. This is a deep emotion book that has some erotic scenes.
I really cannot do the book justice with my short review. But if you are a fan of M/M romance this is a book you must have!

Book reviewed- A Loving Heart by Leiland Dale
Book Blurb- For seven years, Jasper Elliot felt betrayed and all alone when his brother left their home. When an unexpected visitor shows up and voices the truth as to why his brother left, Jasper was faced with a decision that would change the course of his life. Arriving at The Mountain Hart Ranch not only didn't things go the way he expected them too but he also found something he thought he never would.

Seth Hart had a secret, one that had scars of its own. To keep his secret safe he never dated and always made sure to not get his heart involved. With the arrival of Jasper, Seth's resolutions flew right out the window. The instant attraction Seth felt for Jasper was exhilarating but also scared him. Just as things started going better than Seth ever expected, their past catches up to them.

Will their past tear them apart or will Seth's secret bring them closer together?

My Thoughts- I really enjoyed this book!
It was a week of M/M cowboy books for me I guess. I enjoyed both that I read. This book was a solid 4 to 4.5 until the end.
The beginning of this story was strong and drew you forward taking you to an exciting middle. I felt the end was a bit of a let down though. Lots of unanswered questions.
Still like I said I did enjoy this book and will look for more from this author in the future. This is the second book in a series and I really enjoyed the first which I have reviewed before so hopefully this author will continue to weave her story for us to enjoy.

The Were Chronicles opened doors

The Were Chronicle series were my first attempt at a long running series.

I had thought to run between six and eight books for my wolf shifters to be introduced to the world. I am still in the mind set of about six books.

I recently finished the fourth book of the series Pack Rogue and already started the fifth book.

For the fourth book we finally meet the last of the key players setting for the final battle coming. In the fifth book we get to return to some of the territories so we can bring the characters together for the end.

While I am a little sad to be talking about the end of The Were Chronicles I am also excited for what the future can bring.

While the first four books were all M/F books the fifth adds a little more to the mix with M/F/M lovers. I enjoy writing ménage books and always thought that Tony deserved two mates.

I have started new series that I am proud to say I was able to bring to the readers because of The Were Chronicles series. Without the start of my wolf shifters I don’t believe I would have enjoyed finding my voice as much as I have.

2009 was a huge year for me. With the recent award from All Romance Ebooks for Pack Alpha as one of the top 10 best sellers in 2009 I couldn’t be happier with the readers that have come through for me.

2010 was a slow year with releases but already 2011 is looking full with three contracts already signed.

So I promise to keep bringing you books that I hope you will enjoy if you keep wanting them!

I’m back this Monday with three new reviews to share with you. Sadly with me being so sick the last few weeks, the craziness at the day job, and working on my new house I haven’t had tons of time to read.

But I have been able to fit in a little reading every week and I am happy to share my thoughts on the latest books I’ve picked up!

Book Reviewed- Jumping into Things by Julia Talbot

Book Blurb- What are the odds that two different brothers will find the man of their dreams in one summer?

What are the odds that those two brothers will both like men?

The Thatcher brothers will make you forget the odds. In this double novella, each brother tells his own tale. There’s Jed, pilot and all around good old boy, gets more than the one night stand he bargained for with an adrenaline pumped smoke jumper who makes him as horny as he does crazy. And Ross, Airborne jump instructor and man’s man, finds a sweet young thing he can’t resist, and follows in his big brother’s footsteps.

Likeable men, hot sex, and a great sense of detail make these brothers believable, even when you think the odds are against them.

Review Rating- 4/ 5

My Thoughts- Jed and Eli were one hot, sexy, and oh so yummy couple! The story read very smoothly and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. Between Eli getting injured, feelings not talked about, and misunderstandings you have to pull for the two guys while wanting to scream at them to get it together!

Ross and Kevin were just so easy to enjoy and I really liked this story also. Ross is straight? Was straight? Has tried strap-ons but not men- oh it is just so funny when he shares that with Kevin.

Two books in one! Gotta love that! These stories are well written with characters you’ll enjoy. I would suggest you add Jumping into things to your library!

Book Reviewed- Freeze Frame by Mia Watts

Book Blurb- Dill Harper can freeze time, but unfortunately, it's a faery gift that only works at the most inopportune moments. Now he's on a case for Harper Security, watching the very delectable ass of Mason Haliday-a man worth having, but one who doesn't want to be had.

My Thoughts- The blurb does not do this book justice! This story had it all! Characters that I thought about after I was done reading, comedy, hot scenes, and a mystery.

Turns out this is the second book of a series and I have already added the first to my TBR pile. I am so glad that I found it! And Dill’s family is so outrageous and wonderful that I will be going back for more books as they come out!

Book Reviewed- Tempting Sin by Amber Kell

Book Blurb- No Blurb available- SORRY!

Review Rating- 3.75/ 5

My Thoughts- This is an author that I like to read when I need to relax and just want a quick read. As I get into her more recent stories I have enjoyed them more than the first ones I bought. The editing has improved a little but still no where close to where it should be.

Sin may just be every man and women dreamboat. Or fantasy. Callum is someone who you just want to read about.
Their story is hot and intense. Sin owns a security business and Callum is a chef. They get together and after one night Sin knows he has to have more of Callum. By the end of the book as Sin’s men and Callum’s brother arrives I was really into the book. And then it ended. I would have loved to read more about this group.

Book reviewed- Security Issues by Morgan Hawke

My Ratings- 4/ 5

My Thoughts- What a surprising good book.

This story had it all! Comedy that is so rarely seen, hot man on man love, and great written characters.

In all honesty I wasn’t expecting much. I was bored and the book was cheap. Oh how glad I am that I got it.

I loved loved how Rory dealt with security. Even better was how Jin turned the tables.

This does have some spanking, being tied down, and out in your place scene and they were awesome. Highly recommended.

Book Reviewed- Boystown: Three Nick Nowak Mysteries by Marshall Thornton

Book Blurb-

My Thoughts- Three books in one, you gotta love that.

These stories were very entertaining. I actually read the first two rather quickly. The third was just as good but took me awhile to get into at first.

I like cop turned detective books, always have. The fact that he is no longer a cop because he’d gay, added to it.

These books are heavy on the sex. Lots of sex with lots of different men. That’s usually not my kind of books and I didn’t change my mind here.

It’s a good read.

I have two new reviews up that I am pleased to share with you! Both the stories are great late night reads that will help your mond and body relax.

Book Reviewed- Duncan’s World by T.A. Chase

Book Blurb- Kyle MacDonald keeps his head down and tries to avoid making his father angry while traveling on the professional bull riding circuit. He’s learned the hard way how his father deals with being upset. The only rebellion Kyle’s allowed himself is helping out with the bulls after the event. It’s on one such night that Kyle meets Duncan Hornsby.

My Thoughts- Awesome story! From the first word this book begins I was hooked. I loved the characters and the struggles Kyle had to go through. Even though this was a short story it was not lacking in anyway.

I suggest picking up this quick hot read when you need to unwind. It will put a smile on your face.

Book Reviewed- Melting Ice 2 by DJ Manly

Book Blurb- Mario De Luca is a former biker and the key witness in a trial which will put a mobster away for a very long time...if he makes it to to testify.

F.B.I. agent Thomas Petrie was looking for excitement and danger, but his very first assignment has him on ‘babysitting duty’. Thomas is not very happy having to spend his every waking hour with De Luca in an isolated cabin, especially since he won’t stop coming on to him.

All he wants is to complete his assignment and move on. But Mario is proving to be quite a distraction...

My Rating- 3.75/ 5

My Thoughts- Very good although not as good as the first one.

I liked the characters but didn’t fall in love with them the way I did in Melting Ice 1.

This story had everything you can ask for. Romance, action, and hot man on man love. The plot was intriguing without being too heavy. This story is a good late night read before you go to bed.

BOOK REVIEW MONDAY- THREE NEW BOOKS WERE READ AND HERE IS WHAT I THINK!!!

Book reviewed- Last Chance by Viki Lyn

My Thoughts- First book from this author and I thought I would give it a try after reading the blurb. Glad I did. The author put a little twist on the old vampire story.

Can you cure yourself of being a vampire? Gosh, I hope not but that is just me I guess.

This story had plot, a good character connection, and heat.

I enjoyed this story from the first. I’m not a fan of having an overly famine male but it worked for this story and I wouldn’t change it. The author left an opening for Stu’s brother to have his own book- and I hope to see it.

Book Reviewed- Rock Bottom by Celia Kyle

My Thoughts- This is the second book I’ve read from this author.

I was surprised by this book not really knowing how the book would go. Jeremy makes some mistakes but than again so does the people around him. The book just got better and better as it went along. It’s a quick read but the plot and characters carry you through.

Nice little break from some of the same ol same ol books.

Book Reviewed- A Game of Chances by T.C. Blue

My Thoughts- Best book I’ve read in a long time.

There wasn’t one moment that I got tired or bored with this book. And it is a novel so I didn’t have to stop and take my time so I wouldn’t read it to fast.

The unique plot has each page drawing you into the story. The heat is there and promises to get better with each scene.

This looks to be the first in a series and I am already hooked on what looks to be an exciting series of books! This is a must read and I’ll even say a must read again.

Well worth the time and money spent!

Nic Reddin closed and locked the front door behind the last Pack member as the Easter celebration finally ended. He sighed with relief as he rested his large body against the wood.

It wasn’t until several years ago when Lara had arrived with some other female shifters that they had become a Pack.
Lara and several other females, including cubs, had left their Pack when a new Alpha had taken over and had started to ‘mate’ some of the under age girls.
The Rogue shifters had opened them with open arms but the Alpha had come after them.
Since the females were part of their old Alpha’s pack and hadn’t been accepted in another one they were obligated to return the females.
Nic had been so proud of Ryan when he’d refused. Instead Ryan had ordered Nic and several other men to take the females and hide them. He’d than contacted the Wolf Council and applied for Pack status.
And it’d been approved.
Nic was grateful the elders of the society had seen the ability in Ryan to lead his Pack fairly and with a loving touch.

But not everyone had been happy when Ryan had become Alpha. Ryan’s father in fact had been furious.

Book Review Monday- April 5th!

Another Monday sneaks up on us! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend. We had a blast traveling out of town. Spent way too much money but did almost everything we wanted!

Didn’t get much reading done but that won’t keep this woman down… just means I have a lot of time to make up for! Lol!

And speaking of reading… let’s talk books!

Book Reviewed- State of Mind by Libby Drew

Book Blurb- Grier Crist works for the Organization—a group of Gifted “agents” who use their powers to keep peace, help those in need, and combat criminal influence around the globe. When a suspicious bombing drives Grier to break his ties with the group and go into hiding, the head of the Organization sends model agent Alec Devlin after him, claiming Grier is a murderer and traitor to their cause.

My Thoughts- First time author for me!

I couldn’t be more pleased with how this book was written. Libby Drew created a unique world of powerful people who with special gifts that were just a little confused about right and wrong.

From the first page of this book until the end you will enter a world full of Hot men, fiest females, and one sexy scene after another.

If this is the kind of books this author continues to write I will have to get more.

Book Reviewed- Big Enough for Five

Book Blurb- Ryan and Baz and Marcus and Aidan figure they have it good. They have their own business, a thriving gay and lesbian publishing company. They have a huge bed. And they have each other. It works for them perfectly well, at least until Nicholas starts...watching.

Nicholas has been working at the press a while when Ryan notices that Nicholas is looking more, and looking with intent. But Nicholas is too shy to mention it, and the others haven’t decided what to do about it. They had enough trouble accepting the dynamic of four. So it takes a lot of dancing to admit that might want to bring in someone else.

The guys struggle through hurt feelings, misunderstandings, and lots of hot loving, all the while refining the relationships that make them what they are. Maybe they'll find that their bed, and their hearts, are big enough for five after all.

My Rating- 3.5/ 5

My Thoughts- This author is so hit and miss with me that I just can’t decide about the writing style.

Some books are just plain hot and naught enjoyeable can’t miss and others are just not for me. This book falls in the middle. It was an interesting storyline while the style seemed strange to me. While it was a little hard to get into it was really chapter by chapter book. I don’t think I could write five different points of view so I have to give the author the props for that. You get into the characters heads and know exactly how they feel.

Book Reviewed- Dar and Gregg (Jock Dorm 1) by Bobby Michaels

Book Blurb- If you think Jocks and Nerds have nothing in common, come to the Jock Dorm!

Cute, nerdish Dar has no idea what to expect when campus housing places him in the Jock Dorm. He certainly doesn't expect his Jock-God of a roommate, tall, hunky, muscular Gregg the champion wrestler. Nor falling head over heels for him. Workouts, friendship, a little hurt and comfort, and pretty soon Dar can't take being in love with his straight roommate.

But maybe Gregg isn't so straight. He's been keeping secrets of his own, like a murdered first love and a family that's pretty much disowned him for being gay. Though he vowed never to fall again, he's not figuring on Dar and how the cute little nerd unfreezes his fearful heart.

For once, the nerd gets the jock, but different interests are the least of their problems. They can't keep their hands off each other, but coming out is the hardest part.

My Thoughts- Surpised by this book! I always love that!

I wasn’t expecting too much and was happily intrigued and pulled into the story. Dar and Gregg are such great characters and the story went into depth about how their relationship built and carried them through the trials of being young gay althets.

There are other books in the series and they have been placed on my to buy books.

So I hope you find something to read...

Today we are lucky enough to have our Guest Author Ericka Scott join us on the blog. Ericka talks about her experience with publishing and gives us some points and some warning signs to look out for.

I first found Ericks several years ago when she was writting for Cobblestone Press. I believe she still continues with them but I was very excited when she joined the TEB family. I buy first from TEB to support my fellow authors before I hit the other sites. So when Ericka jumped on bpard I couldn't have been happier!

May 17th, 2010, will mark my third anniversary as a published author. I wasn’t a publishing novice by the time that first novella was accepted. In fact, I’d had over thirty short stories published in various print and electronic formats. However, I had never thought of my writing as anything but a hobby up until 2006 when I decided that for the next chapter of my life, I was going to ‘be an author.’ It’s been a wild ride, one I wouldn’t trade for the world, and I’m glad to say that it’s not over yet. Still, there are some things I wished I had known (and am still learning), that I’d like to pass along.

All publishers are not created equal

Crystal Clear, my first novella, was released by Cobblestone Press. I was very lucky to stumble upon them and have their shining example as to what a publisher should be like. They are author-friendly, have prompt and open communications with their employees, have fantastic cover art, and pay regularly and on-time each and every month, without fail.

With some of my other publishers, I haven’t been so lucky. Several of them disappeared almost overnight. In addition, one of my past publishers kept such shoddy book keeping that I was paid royalties before my book was even released (explain that one?!?) and never received a clear accounting of what books were actually sold. Communication with a few other publishers has been hit or miss.

I thought I had learned what to look for and where to go to ask questions (Writers Beware, Absolute Write Water Cooler, Piers Anthony) but even with all that information, it’s still possible to leap without looking. For instance, did you know that not all publishers edit the books before they are released? I didn’t realize that until I received the galleys for one of my books and found out it’s the exact file I sent them.

Do your research.

Even if you’ve sold once, it takes just as much work to sell again.

It may sound silly, but I honestly thought that once I’d sold a book, it would be a breeze to sell the next one. Nope. Even after three years, eighteen novellas, two full-length novels, and a handful of short stories, I still garner a healthy number of rejections. At times it’s discouraging and the waiting never gets any easier.

What I have learned is that if I’m lucky enough for an agent or editor to give me feedback, I take a step back and apply a critical eye to the story before I send it out again. Although it’s only one opinion and I may not agree with their criticism, there is usually truth in their remarks. Thankfully, almost all of my manuscripts have found a home, but it’s never been the easy road I envisioned.

Goals and deadlines

Writing a book is hard work. Many authors have a 9-5 job, families, friends and a writing career. Often the time to write has to be crowbarred into the day, either early in the morning or late at night. For many, there is no real sense of urgency to create that first or second draft. Then, the manuscript sells.

The mistake is to think that simply because the book sold, there will be no further work. Ha! There are forms to be filled out, edits to complete, and galleys to review. Make those deadlines a priority. The difficulty arises when life intervenes, kids get sick, the paying job’s projects are due. It’s easy to let it all slide, especially if the book won’t be released for months. But don’t do it.

Even if your book hasn’t been sold, even if the manuscript is still in the beginning stages, set goals and deadlines and make every effort to meet them. It’ll be good practice for when you sell.

Being an author is like running a marathon, not dashing sprint.

Every year, there are more and more published books competing for a reader’s attention. Although I was sure my novella would be a bestseller (thankfully, it was), some of my other books, that I believed in just as strongly, haven’t been. For each title I took out the same number and type of ads, promoted them much the same way, and I know the publisher has done their job to promote the title as well.

Sadly, we can all look at the flaws in the latest bestsellers and even I fall into the pit of wondering why my book, which didn’t have cardboard characters, a predictable plot, and a heroine who is too stupid to live, didn’t hit the NY Times Bestseller List. Still, a close look at those writers who appear to be ‘overnight successes’ reveals that the reality is far from the truth. They, too, put in the long hours (or years) of writing, garnered drawers full of rejections, and paid their dues to get where they are. That doesn’t say I don’t believe that there is an element of luck or magic involved. Being in the right place and the right time certainly doesn’t hurt. However, I remind myself daily that I’m in this business for the long run.

There is only one rule for Authors.

Write!

Title: Crystal Pack- Meet the Pack

The moonlight lit the entire forest as the Crystal Pack members ran in their wolf form. The Crystal Wolf Pack is a small pack of shifters that can be found running through the thick brush of the northern California Mountains every full moon.
Alpha Ryan Crystal led his Pack through the trees closer to the small creek that run through his territory. He made sure he was mentally connected with each member of his Pack. Most had let their wolf take control of their own minds. He touched each one and let them know he was with them and would be there while that let the animal out.
There were still a few who’s human half remained dominant. His beta and friend Nic and his female mate Lara both wrapped their love around him as he touched their minds. They would get the time to play also but he had to protect his Pack first.
He caught the scent of a deer and cut west to start the chase. He let some of the younger cubs pass him and slowed until he ran beside Nic and Lara.
“Continue to the creek,” he told them through their link. It was strongest with his two most trusted Pack members.
Nic chuckled back mentally while Lara darted in to nip his ear and away again.
Arousal hot and fast coursed through his body. He would get her back for that. As it was there were too many shifters around. He did manage to bite her flank before they separated in opposite directions.
He followed his pack as they hunted, until they downed the deer, and started to feast. Only when the majority of the Pack had settled down to rest and relax did he start to sneak away. He sent a quick thought to his head guard to keep an eye out.
Certain his Pack was happy and well cared for he made his way to the creek. He crept quietly hoping Nic and Lara were distracted.
He wasn’t disappointed. As he reached the water up wind so they couldn’t smell him he crouched and watched the action. Still in wolf form Lara pounced on Nic causing him to roll. She covered his body with her smaller frame and started to sink her teeth into his neck.
Nic easily rolled her over and onto her stomach. With his larger body he pinned her to the ground and started to rub. It wasn’t long until the air around the two wavered and without any change to their position a man and a woman replaced the two wolves.
Nic entered Lara slowly as if drawing the intense feeling out. Ryan watched as Nic plunged inside the willing female. His own body reacted and it was all he could do to hold back his yowl and call to the other wolves. Instead he pressed his body hard against the solid ground and watched.
Nic had his head thrown back and was grunting loudly with each measured stroke. Lara pushed back into each thrust her eyes closed and a look of pure extasy covering her beautiful face.
Ryan found himself rubbing off against the forest floor and decided he had watched enough. Silent as the sounds of lovemaking grew louder he crept forward. It wasn’t until he was almost right on top of them and had leapt that they even noticed his presence.
He shifted mid-air and came down as human landing against Nic’s back driving the man deeper inside Lara. Lara screamed and he could smell her climax, her essence release, and pleasure over take her.
Nic growled and shuddered but held his own release off. Ryan was glad because he was so hard he could have pounded nails. He ran his hands over Nic's flanks and up to his hips, applying pressure to the small of his back, to finally tease his crack hiding the treasure Ryan was searching for.
“Please Alpha,” Nic begged roughly pushing back against him. “Don't tease.”
Ryan growled and bent his body to cover Nic's. Ryan ran his fangs over Nic's neck drawing the blood up to the surface.
“Yes,” Nic pleaded.
Ryan sucked strongly on the salty flesh between his teeth as his fingertip slowly started to press into Nic's warm hole.
Nic bucked as Ryan started to breach him.
Lara softly moaned in response. This was how he liked his two lovers. The two of them connected and he filling one or the other. It was precious moments when the three of the wee joined. They each had such complex and demanding jobs within the Pack these moments were so very special.
He bit down gently as he finger slid deep. He found Nic's magic button and pegged it with each thrust of his finger.
Nic continued to chant “please” as he pushed back against Ryan and forward to move inside Lara. Ryan added a second finger and then a third quickly needing to get Nic stretched and ready to receive him. He didn't want to hurt the other man but his cock throbbed with each thrust of his fingers wanting to replace his digits and join the fun.
As soon as he knew Nic would be able to take him he pulled his fingers free. He groaned in protest but Ryan had to cock ready to take their place and started to push inside.
“Yes, Fuck me,” Nic yelled.
Ryan's grip on Nic's hips were hard enough to bruise but the bruises wouldn't last he knew. A shifter could take most anything. And right than Ryan was going to demand Nic's body take a hard ride.
He paused halfway sleathed to give Nic time. Nic squirmed trying to take him deeper. Ryan nipped at Nic's shoulder but the other man chuckled.
“Do it,” Nic demanded.
Lara who was used to the two men and their games but she was never a silent partner.
“Damn it,” his female gripped. “Pound his ass. You know he wants it and than he can start fucking me.”
Ryan grunted to both of them but gripped Nic harder and plunged the rest of the way inside.
“Christ!” he murmured and laid his forehead on Nic's shoulder. There was no feeling like being buried inside one of his lovers. Nic's heat surrounded him and he felt the scorch through his whole body.
Nic whimpered. “Move, please...”
Ryan lifted his head and began to thrust in deep slow measured strokes. Below Nic Lara moaned loudly. As Ryan took Nic he forced the other man deeper than before into their female.
Nic and Lara grew wilder under him as he sped up and started to really pound into Nic. He arched his back slamming down in rapid succession hitting Nic's prostate with each pass.
Ryan wrapped his hands around Nic's shoulders and pulled him roughly back to meet each punishing forceful plunge.
Nic finally flew over the edge screaming as he body tightened painfully around Ryan's prick.
“Shit,” Ryan cursed almost losing it himself.
“Yes!” Lara cried out as she joined Nic.
Ryan started to move hoping to take Nic higher than before. Each precise movement connected his dick with that special spot inside Nic.
“Oh God! Oh God!” Nic was practically shouting.
Suddenly Lara was pressed against his back. Her firm full breasts rubbing against him as she kissed and licked his neck. How she was able to move he didn't know but he vowed to take care of her as soon as he was finished with Nic. He would fuck her into sleep if he had too. But she would be fully sated and happy when he was done.
“That's it, let go,” she whispered in his ear.
Ryan ground his teeth trying to stop doing just that. He had to remain in control of his wolf. He came the closest to losing that control when he was with Nic and Lara.
“Trust me to take care of you,” Lara murmured. “We'll take care of you love.”
Nic was giving as good as Ryan gave him. Each stroke and thrust was met.
“Can't...” he barely managed to pant.
“Give yourself to us,” Lara breathed into his ear right before she bit.
Ryan was lost. He started to buck, to grind, and push against Nic. Unable to control or keep any type of rhythm. He threw his head back and howled as he let go and released his see inside Nic.
Dimly he heard Nic join him and was pleased with that small fact.
It was probably only several minutes later but it seemed like hours when he came back to himself. He was still buried inside Nic but Lara had taken his upper body and wrapped herself around him.
As gently as he could he slowly withdrew his body from Nic. He pulled both his lovers into his arms and laid back in the cook grass.
“Love you both,” he barely whispered.
They kissed him. And he was complete. His life, his Pack, his world was right. What more could an Alpha ask for?

Well Spring is here and I for one couldn’t be happier. The temperatures have heated up into the mid- eighties and I am starting to wear my Capri’s, put my coat in the garage, and flip flops are all over.

Book Review Monday is here again and I am so excited to share three books with you that really make relaxing and enjoying a good book all the better.

These three authors I have all read before and I can't say I was dissapointed. Infact just the opposite. Two of these authors esp surprised and pleased me greatly!

Book Reviewed- Deeper Blue by A. J. Llewellyn

Book Blurb- Tracy Costantino accepts the task of tutoring Marjo, a troubled little girl whose father has rented a house in the remote but picturesque Greek island town of Molivos. But this is no Mediterranean paradise...something strange is going on...

My thoughts- Okay I will admit I am a great fan of A. J. Llewellyn but still I wouldn’t have expected how different and good Deeper Blue was.

This story was so well written that it actually had me laugh out loud and tear up while enjoying. I felt so connected with the great written characters and complicated plot that I just couldn’t stop reading. And this is a pretty long book!

This will be a re-read book for me, no doubt! This book really showed how fine of a storyteller that the author is.

Book reviewed- Hell hath no fury by Carol Lynne

My Thoughts- Oh wow oh wow! This isn’t the type of book that I am used to reading from Carol Lynne and I loved it!

As always she has created a world that jumps out at you from the pages however this deep darker book just screams to be read over and over again.

I am not surprised she could take Hell and Lucifer and make them come alive but the way she did it was a great read.

I look forward to more of this series.

Book Reviewed- Switching Gears by Claire Thompson

My Thoughts- It is hard to find someone who can do BDSM books with as much class as Claire Thompson and this book while short was a great hot read.

I couldn’t have wanted better characters and while this is the first book I have read in this series it was wonderful as a stand-alone.

She created believable likable men that just thinking about makes you hot!

Guest Author Desiree Holt Day!

Desiree Holt is joing us on the blog today. I have been looking forward to this day! She has stopped by to share a little about her and her books.

This is one author that I can honestly say that I have followed. When I first started buying EBooks I found the Total-E-Bound site. The same site that would later become my publisher. Desiree Holt was one of the first authors I read when I stared my EBook selection.

Two of her early work stood out for me. Her books Crude Oil and Afternoon delight still get opened and read from time to time. Crude Oil is actually a personal favorite of mine.

Desiree was also one of the Authors that contributed in the Caught in the Middle Anthology which I was part of. Her story Swingtime was one of the best in the entire book. If you are a member of my yahoo group you might have seen my review of it back when the book came out.

I loved loved loved swingtime. I wanted to BE Lanie. So if you have yet to try out a book by Desiree I don't know what you are waiting for!!! Go, hurry, and I promise you will find a new favorite author.

Book reviewed- Bad Cops by A. J. Llewellyn

My Thoughts- Book Five in the Tri Omega sereis. Finally we get to see Daniel find his mate. Or more surprising he already knows who his mate is. The man who had sent him away years ago.

I loved this story. I love the whole series and have read the books several times. This is a great addition to the series and I was so glad that Daniel found both his mates. I hated, liked, hated, loved Brom although wasn’t much impressed with Jaryn. He was the only part of the book I didn’t like.

A wonderful, hot, sexy read. A MUST reread and will have to see more of this series.

Book reviewed- Duck Fart by Jade Buchanan

My Thoughts- I was pleasantly surprised with this book. I really enjoyed it and for the rest of the night couldn’t get the characters out of my head. That is meant as the highest compliment. Looks like there is more to the series as a first book was mentioned and it has been added to my TBR file.

This book had great humor, hot scenes, and men that you could just love.

I will be rereading it at some time.

Although there are a lot of subjects I could talk about, I think I’d like to set this up for all aspiring authors, and how trying it was for me as an aspiring author to get published.

I know that when I was first starting out, the biggest deterrent from my dream was those rejection letters. Everyone will get them; it’s just a fact of like unfortunately. I guarantee that all of the greats writers out there got at least one rejection letter.

When I got my first one it just about broke my heart. Mind you, I had absolutely no experience with writing a story or publishing companies. I was completely new to everything! Needless to say, when I got that first letter, emotions bombarded me. I was embarrassed, upset, and just plain sad. I felt like a failure. My dream of becoming a published author went down another notch.

I pushed on though, submitting my story to another place, which got me another rejection letter. By this time I felt like giving up. I thought, “Well, if I got two rejection letters then obviously my story wasn’t that great.” My husband gave me that little extra bump to submit again. And so I did.

Now because I was just starting out, I had no idea there were so many wonderful eBook publishing companies out there. I tried my luck with a great publishing company, and what do you know, they accepted it.

Deliciously Wicked: Dimi of the Seven Moons was turned down by two other eBook publishers. In the end, that story wasn’t meant to go anywhere but with Siren Publishing.

I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I want everyone to know that you can’t see the top of the pyramid until you’ve been at the bottom. It takes those rejection letters to make you truly appreciate the road you traveled on. Without those letters, and those feelings going through you, how can you really appreciate when you’re dream finally happens?

Is it Porn or Erotica?

I have a friend who thinks I write porn. I tell her no, I write erotica, but she can’t see the difference. And there is a difference.

Porn is sex simply for the sake of sex. It can be entertaining, but that’s not what I do.

We’ve all read an occasional piece that reads like a truly raunchy story, a flimsy cover for a book long sex scene, but that’s not erotica. It’s not what I write or what most erotica authors write.

Any erotica that’s worth its stuff is first a story. Most of them are good stories, satisfying reads. Many good enough to stand on their own. Some have real depth of emotion; others might be light and whimsical, humorous or tell of suspense or mystery. All entertain and are labeled erotica because they cover the sex in a story with some intensity, with clear visualization and description, but most always with emotional depth.

And it’s emotional depth that satisfies. It doesn’t matter if it’s M/M or M/F, a good read always has it.

Women and men, no matter how we insist on equality, are different. What we need from each other is different. Answer the door naked. That’s all he needs. Not to say things like that aren’t fun. They are. But the truth is that kind of fun is enough for a man, while a woman needs just a bit more.

She may not need tenderness, but she needs depth of emotion. Torrid love scenes turn a woman on. Those little books sold in sex stores leave you flat and searching for something more.

Why? Because they’re not erotica. They are smut. Now smut has its place, no one says it doesn’t, but to satisfy a woman, she needs erotica. Those little books are true porn, but without pictures and that leaves me wondering. Men are visual creatures. They get turned on by looking at pictures of women. A woman gets turned on by romance, a kiss can do it, a look can do it, a tender or slightly rougher touch can do it. The full attention of a man can do it. Again, emotion.

So who reads these little smutty stories? I’ve got no clue.

If I wrote them, I wouldn’t brag on it. But I do brag on writing erotica romance. Even though eyes might widen when I say the word erotica, what I do fills a need. Luckily for me, it’s something I love doing.

“You’re soaked to the skin. Take off your clothes.”
“I like this,” she said with a smile, as she held up the glass, having forgotten she was about to question his odd request, having forgotten the request itself.
“Aren’t you cold?”
“Here, let me help you,” he said as he took away her wet hat and after rummaging through a bag in the corner of the room, rubbed a cloth over her hair. A moment later, he opened the buttons of her blue riding jacket.
“It’s warm in here,” she said, switching her glass from one hand to the other as he stripped away the sodden material.
“This will dry if I hang it near the fire.”
Meg thought that was a most amazing concept. Of course, the fire would dry her things. Vaguely, she wondered why she hadn’t thought of it and merely watched as he hung the jacket to the side of the fire on a nail.
He returned to her and smiled. “And now the rest,” he said as he reached for the fastening at her waist.
“Just a minute,” she said, and if her words were just a bit slower and slightly slurred, neither seemed to notice. “I can’t take off my clothes now, with you here.”
The man laughed. “What’s your name?”
“Meg,” she returned then narrowed her gaze. “What’s yours?”
“Mike didn’t tell you?”
“Who’s Mike?”
His grin was sly as he joined her in her game. “My name is Jack. Why are you here, if you don’t know Mike?”
“I was riding and got lost. Do you know the Kimberly place?”
“I’m afraid I don’t. I’m not from around here.”
“You’re not? You live here, but you’re not from around here?”
He grinned. “You are delicious, and I don’t live here.”
“Oh,” Meg returned with a frown, unable to come to grips with the oddity of living here, while not living here. “I was hoping I could…”
“I’m sure I’m not feeling quite myself. Have you a chair?”

She couldn’t seem to undress while holding to her glass and had never thought to put the glass down. She never realised she hadn’t finished her comment as she suddenly found this lovely man had once again come to her rescue. He took the glass from her hand and put it on a nearby small table.
Meg frowned, wondering why she hadn’t thought to do that.
A moment later, he was opening the buttons of her blouse.
Meg never realised she was suffering under the influence of drink. Having never before partaken of the brew, she therefore had no knowledge of its devastating effects and was unaware that she wasn’t acting her usual self.
“Thank you,” she said. “I was having a time of it. My fingers are so stiff, and I couldn’t seem to work the…”
He grinned and said suggestively, “More than fingers are stiff today.”
“Is that right?” she asked sweetly, her gaze obviously confused. “You mean because of the rain?”
Jack laughed. “That innocent act is adorable.” Then in answer to her question went on with, “It could be the rain, I suppose, but I’m thinking you have something to do with it.”
The room spun around her, and she had to blink a number of times before it stopped.
“Me?” she asked confused. “What did I do?”
Jack laughed again. “You’re a special lady.”
“Thank you, but I…” Meg never finished. Her thoughts suddenly took on a totally new vein as his mouth teased the corner of her lip. Very slowly, she pulled back and asked, “What are you doing?”
Meg hadn’t a notion that her movements, being unusually slow, only further enticed.
Jack smiled. “I was wrong. I thought at first to get right down to business, but this is so much better.”
She looked into his eyes. “What?”
“You had something on the side of your mouth. I was brushing it away.”
She looked up and blinked slowly, naively, never thinking he could have used his finger and said, “Oh, thank you.”
Again, his lips brushed over hers, and she looked again into his eyes and asked trustingly, “More? What was it?”
“Just a crumb,” he said against her mouth.
Had she a grain of her usual common sense, had her mind not been muddled with drink, Meg would have surely reminded him that a crumb could not have existed. The storm had rained upon her for nigh on two hours or more and obviously had cleaned her face very well indeed. But after two glasses of cognac, Meg was drunk and at a distinct disadvantage in her ignorance of that inebriated state. Any thoughts she had were fleeting at best.
Meg frowned, wondering at the oddity of him cleaning her lips with his mouth, and only seconds later, she forgot to wonder, forgot everything but the lovely feel of his mouth against hers.
“You shouldn’t do that,” she said, knowing, despite her current state of dizziness, that for some reason he shouldn’t. She pulled a few inches away, then with her balance a thing of the past, she leaned forward again, closer than ever this time.
“Delightful,” he muttered with a tender smile, his mouth once again against hers.
Meg had never realised two people could talk while their mouths touched. She might have thought it strange indeed had she been able to think, but the power to think had disappeared, but not the power to feel. Indeed as the power to think dissipated the power to feel only seemed to increase. And she thought she liked talking against his mouth very much. “Because I’m already dizzy.”
Jack smiled. “You’re supposed to be dizzy.”
“Oh,” she returned, “am I?”
“I love the taste of your mouth.”
Meg could count on one finger the number of men who had told her that. It never occurred to her that this man shouldn’t be saying it now, even as she returned sweetly, “Thank you.”
Jack laughed. “Haven’t you something to say in return?”
She took perhaps three seconds longer than she should have to answer him. “I think so.”
“What?” Jack was obviously entranced.
“I have a secret.”
“Have you? Can you tell me what it is?”
“The secret is I’ve never kissed a man before.”
Jack smiled and nodded. “If I didn’t know better…” He let the sentence drop and asked, “What other secrets do you have?”
“I don’t know,” she said with a tantalising grin as she leaned away then into him again, her eyes wide with laughter. “What kind do you want?”
Jack’s fingers were busy as she swayed. “You are lovely.”
Her skirt fell to her feet, her petticoats as well. A moment later, her blouse and shift were gone. She stood clothed only in her drawers and stockings. Feeling the warm air against her damp, cool skin, she looked down at her mostly naked form without a hint of surprise or embarrassment then looked up at him again with a smile. “Where are my clothes?”
“I’m going to dry them before the fire.”
“Thank you,” she said as she shivered.
“Here,” he said, “take my shirt. I don’t want you to get cold.”
“Oh, you are so nice.” And then she sighed as he helped her into the soft shirt, still warm from the heat of his body. “This really feels good.” She pressed the fabric to her nose and said in all honesty, “I like the way this smells.”
Jack only groaned at her words.
Meg tried to close the shirt, but he refused to allow it. Instead, he pulled her closer and began to play with her breasts, to rub them against his warm chest, to roll her nipples between his fingers. She giggled and shook her head. “I know you shouldn’t be doing this.”
Jack smiled. “Why?”
“’Cause,” she said smiling while biting her bottom lip, watching his wicked grin.
“’Cause why?”
“’Cause I don’t know why.”
He chuckled. “But you like it?”
“Like what?” She blinked in confusion.
“Damn, but you really are a luscious piece. Do you like what I’m doing?”
“Oh,” she nodded eagerly then moaned as the movement made the room swim around her. It took a moment before the room stopped moving, and she finally said, “Very much. Isn’t that strange?”
“No. Most everyone likes it.”
“Do they? How odd that no one has ever told me.”
His lips brushed over hers. Softly, gently, asking nothing but to touch, to sip at her sweetness. “Mmm…” she moaned against his mouth. “Lovely.”

I have two new reviews that I am happy to share with you. This week I will share my reviews for two books that I really enjoyed.

Book Reviewed-Ryland’s Sacrifice by Kim Dare

Book Blurb- Principles don't pay tuition fees. When Ryland's math scholarship disappears overnight, he has two choices. He can borrow money from fellow student Jason Burrows, who has very interesting ways of collecting debts. Or, he can volunteer to be thrown to the werelions.

One night spent playing the part of a willing human sacrifice will give him enough money to finish his PhD. It seems like a good deal-right up until the moment he finds himself naked, blindfolded, bound and surrounded by lions.

My Rating- 4.25/ 5

My Thoughts- Oh I really enjoyed this book.

Very different from the other shifter series out there I found myself pulled in and read the book in one night.

I loved the characters and the story while is super sexy hot it has a great plot and I can easily see this as a series that I will have to get.

The lions have come out to play and it was great fun!

Book Reviewed- Stephani Hecht Bound by Blood

Book Blurb- Ethan thought that he’d finally overcome all the horrors of his past. With his lover, Zeke, by his side and an entire clan of vampires at his back, he thought he could finally have true happiness. That all changes when an enemy from his old life comes back and threatens all that Ethan holds dear. My Rating- 4.5/ 5

My Thoughts- Have I said how much I love this series, Lol! I saw this book and jumped at the chance to get it. I even stopped reading what I had been so I could get to it right away.

This book goes deeper into the relationship between Ethan and Zeke and takes them to his old coven.

The action, sex, and relationships tie together with the rest of the series. If you have read any of the Drone Vampires this is a must read! If not… start a new series. You won’t be disappointed!

Here are two books that I recommend you run out and get! You will truely love both.

I want everyone to give a big huge welcome to Serena Yates. I am so very pleased to have her at the blog today and she is discussing a subject that is close to my heart. As most of you know I am a working writer. I have an eleven-year-old daughter, three huge labs that are my babies, and a disabled husband. I am the sole provider for my family.

I would love nothing better than to write all day, every day. To turn out more books a year for you. Maybe some day that will happen, I pray anyway, but unless these pirate sites stop it may never happen for me.

Like Serena says in her post. We don’t write to be rich and famous but we do have to make a living.

I will give you an example of my experience before Serena’s post. The weeks before the third book of The Were Chronicles was released the pirate sites were already gearing up for it. We tried to fight it- sent notices and all we can do. The day of the release… it was posted. With hundreds of downloads before it was taken down four days later. To me this is heart breaking and the worst part of being an Ebook author.

But enough about me- Today is Serena’s day!!! Please make sure to mark your calendars for the release of Stealing my Heart. I already have!

Why all this fuss about sharing e-books?

This has become a very touchy subject over recent months. People on both sides of the ‘piracy divide’ have become increasingly emotional about why they think they’re right and the others are – quite frankly – idiots.
Many articles have been written, many a discussion has taken place. You’d think that everything that can be said, has been said. So why have I decided to go ahead and blog about it?
a. It’s rather obvious that I’m involved in the battle - I’m an author of (mainly) e-books. So it’s a topic very close to my heart, indeed, to my livelihood. Therefore this is not an objective piece of analysis. I’ll stick to the facts, but I can’t be impartial. If that’s what you’re looking for, stop reading right now.
The issue is still not recognized nor very well understood by many people. Showing ‘the other side of the coin’, the pain and frustration authors live with every day, might help more people understand the consequences. Education is a good solution for many problems, this one is no different.
There is actually something you can do to help authors fight for their right to be paid for their hard work (like any other craftsperson). More about that later.

1. Why I worry as an author

My ability to keep writing the stories that I need and want to write depends on my ability to earn a living from the sales of my books. Because I get very few $ per book, the more books are sold legally, the better my chances of putting food on the table. Also, the likelihood of my next book getting accepted depends on the sales of the previous book: if too few copies are sold (because everyone downloads them from a file-sharing site) my publisher will not give me another contract.
“Success” for 90% of authors means survival, pure and simple. We are not talking about being rich and famous! Like with most actors or musicians, only very few authors achieve celebrity status. The majority can barely make a living from writing.

Money is being invested in the production of e-books, they do not “pop into existence” for free. Think about the people who are involved in making an e-book happen after the author has written it: editors and proof readers, cover artists and photographers, advertising and marketing. Even e-book retailers need to pay for web design and shopping cart management. None of those people in the “production” line will work for free! Yes, the total cost of production is lower than for a hardback or a paperback, but prices of e-books are also much lower.
If you want e-books to grow beyond the 5% or so market share they have now, you’ll need to support that growth by buying them. That’s how market size and success is measured. If you like the convenience of having 1,000 books with you on your e-reader every time you travel – support the growth of e-books by buying them.

5. And yes, even e-pirates should worry
Legally, everyone who downloads a book without paying for it can be fined. You can find the warnings and amount involved on the first few pages of almost every –book. Granted, so far not much has been done in this area, but the newly established U.S. Justice Department intellectual property task force is sure to make a difference (see article by Diane Bartz of Reuters at http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN1224904520100212).
Also, many e-publishers are no longer willing to stand by and see their income vanish into thin air. They’re installing tracking mechanisms into their e-books which will allow them to find (and punish) those who have bought their books and then put it onto a file-sharing site.

So, what can you do to help?
There are a few obvious things, which I am sure most sensible people already do. Think of e-books as just a different format of the same story (like audio books) – for which you’d expect to pay. Don;t share your e-books beyond family or close friends – just like you wouldn’t lend your paperback to just anyone. Get an account on goodreads.com and start a conversation with some of the authors on there – most of them will be happy to talk to you about how e-book piracy affects them.
You can also talk to friends about some of the things you may have learned by reading this or other blogs spread the word and make people think about the consequences of what they do.

Book reviewed- Ryder’s Mate by Wendy Stone

My thoughts- Very quick read. I should have probably read the book before although I didn’t know there was a book before.

The story didn’t get much into the characters feelings or expand on what I would have like. So I felt let down.

Good sex scenes and the characters are likable.

Book Reviewed- Skin Deep by S. W. Vaughn

My Thoughts- I liked this book, and can see myself buying more from this author esp if she expands on this fun world she created. I’ve always been a fan of Fae books and this one did not disappoint.

I also like tattoo artists that can totally get into to some M/M love. There’s just something about a strong Alpha male that can take care of his man.

This story had great characters and I loved the world they lived in. Although the violence was a little heavy it fit the book and played in nicely shaping the characters.

This is a book I look forward to rereading.

Book reviewed- Unspoken by Katica Locke

My Rating- 2.5/5

My Thoughts- Very quick read, only about 46 pages. Took about half an hour to read.

If this had been a full-length book that dived into the characters it would have been good. I like the were-cat and didn’t like the Hunter. Even with his sad story. The sex scenes are Hot! Very well done. Although they do push the envelope in consensual sex.

The story line is interesting and this could have carried my interest. Learning the Hunter’s son and how he was changed, what happens when a were and hunter get together, future of the characters all could have been done.
Instead this is a straight erotic book meant to get you hot and nothing else.

Blog Series Winner announced-

For the last five weeks I have posted a weekly blog called Press Send. I decided to write this blog after I thought back to what made me choose to go with Ebooks. At the time I was starting to help my dad finish his first manuscript to send into an Ebook publisher.

My dad had made the comment “If I hadn’t seen how god you do with these I would have never thought to try it,”

So who else felt that way? Is what I wondered and thought I would share my experiences.

Adam White stretched his arms out as he walked up the back steps to his house. The late night run in his other form had done a remarkable job of relaxing him.

His sister Laura was in the kitchen baking for the family and other guests who were sure to stop in. He smiled at the smell of cakes and cookies. His sister always cooked enough food for an army, and his mouth watered in anticipation.

He calmly took another breath and found the man he was searching for. His father and former Pack Alpha was in his room. Adam wasn’t surprised. Christian spent all of his time either in his room or in his other form. Adam had tried to talk to him, to bring him out of the depression, but nothing he said or did helped.

Three months before, one of the young females of the Pack had been attacked. Mindy hadn’t been the first or the only girl, but she was the only one from their Pack. Christian had to live with the knowledge that he hadn’t been able to protect a Pack member.

Adam, Laura, and many Pack members—even other Alphas—had told Christian it wasn’t his fault, but he continued to blame himself. The only person who seemed to be able reach him at all was his friend, Logan.

Logan had been staying at the house and talking with Christian daily, slowly bringing him back. But when Logan’s Alpha, Gage, had found out that his mate was pregnant, Logan had to leave and return to his own territory. As expected, Gage’s Pack was in high alert to make certain nothing happened to the Alpha’s mate or child. Adam could understand the need, but he selfishly wished Logan could have stayed longer.

Adam headed to his office. For now, at least, his father was alive. Adam just needed to make sure he remained that way. It wasn’t unusual for shifters to want to end their existence after a tragedy. Living for so long and witnessing so much affected each of them.

Opening the door to the Alpha’s office, Adam stepped inside and flipped on the light. He had taken his new position only two months before and hadn’t changed anything in the office or the house. He didn’t know if he ever would.

The council, made up of former Alphas who policed the Packs, had given their blessing for him to take over the Pack, but Adam still had doubts whether he was ready. It was a huge responsibility and he didn’t want to disappoint anyone, especially his father. The fact that he still needed to appoint his second-in-command weighed heavy on his mind.

Well this is it! The last week of my five part series Press Send. Thank you so much everyone who followed my progress that started in 2008 when I was first published. To now.
I appreciate each and everyone of you wonderful people!

So here we go. We’ve submitted, been contracted, worked on edits, and promo the heck out the book- Now it’s time for release.

No matter what number release it is- it is always a special day!!! It cause to celebrate.
This week was the release of Pack Territory, third book, in The Were Chronicles. The Were Chronicles books have been one of my most prize baby. Each book had a set of characters that I just had to write. I actually wrote book 2: Pack enforcer before book 2: Pack Alpha. But I thought we needed to start with the Alpha first. Plus further along the series it is important to get to know Gage and Marissa.

I am what I call a series writer. Why? Because I prefer to read series so that is what I prefer to write. I like seeing the men and women that grab your heart. Don’t get me wrong. There have been books where I finally gave up reading the series- because everything that was done has been done at the author was just stringing it out.

However I don’t plan to do that. I know exactly how the series will end but can’t say too much, as we’re already halfway there.

As the books are released so comes the reviews, readers ratings, and blogs. I try to search for most of these. While most are good not all are. But then we just have to remember that everyone had different tastes.

One thing I found out over a year after I started submitting is that you never know what will happen. Books that are awesome to me may not be what publishers are looking for.

Remember that manuscript I named E that we were talking about. Yes well, it was my December 2009 release Eternal.

Interesting fact, when I first wrote Eternal they were not vampires. I tried to get it picked up as a Urban Fantasy story. Will after 9 rejections (yes nine) I re-vamped it. (Get it, re-vamped, Lol!)

Okay but let me say one thing. Eternal was one of the books I enjoyed writing the most. Why? Because anything was possible. I could make up the world they lived in.

Using shifters there is only so mush you can do to change them. To be realistic they must be between the animal and the humans. With Vampires your imagination is the limit.
I love that.

During the writing of Pack Magic, the unreleased, book four of The Were Chronicles I couldn’t get into it. I had written the outline back when I started the series. My style had changed. And it wasn’t until I re- outlined the entire story did I get anything done. After I wrote what I wanted- the writing took off. And I love it. It explodes off the page with the action and leads immediately into book 5. As much as I don’t want the series to end I love the end. Lol! If you know what I mean.

But as books are getting released that leaves plenty of work to do. I’m not finished yet and have plenty in store for you. I have three submissions out there at the current time. One werewolf single title, one vampire, and the second book for The Corporate Wolves Series.

So much much more will continue to come for me. As long as you stay with me I promise to not leave you behind, let you get bored, and keep bringing on the Hot Alpha men!

My thoughts- What a wonderful four story series! I instantly fell in love with Jory, want my own Sam, and could see myself with Dane. Each and every character in just what you want to read about. The interaction between the characters along with their friends pulls you in from the start and doesn’t let go.

I found these books from the author site and went over to ARE and bought the first book. It wasn’t long before I got the others and couldn’t stop reading. I love that these are longer books than most out there. It took me a full week to read the four books. I never got bored! I laughed and I cried. I screamed at Jory and Sam and my heart broke and then swelled. These are guys that once they make it to your heart will not let go.

I thoroughly enjoyed these books. Didn’t have the end figured out, was delighted with the outcome, and can’t wait for more from this author.
This is a must read!

Book reviewed- Sticks and Stones by Madeleine Urban & Abigail Roux

My thoughts- The sequel to Cut & Run.

This book started months after Cut & Run finished. Ty and Zane may have recovered from the psychical from their last assignment but not mentally. As their boss forces them to take a vacation. None of them knew what would happen.

The travel to Ty’s family in West Virginia. I love Ty’s family. Great humor in the scenes with the family. They go up the mountain and let me tell you it was one emotional ride. So much happens so fast that you just can’t stop reading. I didn’t want to take a break but the length of the book demanded it.

This book was worth every dollar and I am waiting for the next book, which according to the author’s blog is in the works.
Great book. Read the first book Cut & Run first to get the full enjoyment.

Two more weeks of the blog series and I appreciate all who have joined me. This week is all about what happens when a book comes out.

So you finally submitted your lives work. Received a contract. Did hours (if not days) worth of edits. And finally your book is released!

Now what?

Well let me tell you- just because your book is released does not mean you will immediately have a following.

It wasn’t until I released the first book in The Were Chronicles Pack Alpha did I understand this. But that’s getting ahead of myself.

So listen closely darlings here is the new key word- PROMOTION.

I read somewhere that a reader has to see a book ten times before they buy it. So what does that mean? It doesn’t matter just how great your book is- if no one buys it.

I had two books released before Pack Alpha. My first book was part of the Halloween Special Project Bite Me called Savage Love. My second book was a short story called Seduced by the Neighbour. And while both book sold some copies it was nothing compared to when The Were Chronicles started and Pack Alpha was released.

I have sold more copies of my first two books when readers go back to find more of my books then when they were released.

The second book in The Were Chronicles sold even more.

But here is the funny thing. When I was getting ready to have Pack Alpha released I did more promo than I thought possible.

I did everything imaginable. I started my yahoo group (which is still my favorite promo site. And the one I visit daily.) I did guest blogs, joined all the social networks. Joined chats. I was all over the place. And it paid off.

I finally felt like I arrived!

And with nine books released in 2009 the promo just got busier and busier. Now as you know I still work full time. I have a husband, eleven year old daughter, and three labs. I’m a busy girl. I have to be a little pickier with my time.

Because let’s face it. I still have to write.

So I have to pick my favorites right? My first stop is the yahoo groups. I like to be able to connect with the readers. I like that we can discuss certain topics or the books. What they like, what they would like to see, what they hope for. Instead of just posting about a book to receive a little feedback is always good.

Then of course I try to keep up with other sites although not as often. I have two myspace pages, a facebook, and twitter, good reads and my blog.

Knowing I should do what I always like as a reader I have decided this year to do more on my blog. Why? Well because I like it. And hey, that’s pretty cool.

In February on my blog I revamped my page and started reworking it. So far I am super happy about it. I started Feb with this blog series. In March I already have guest authors lined up to blog on Wednesday’s. I am glad to be able to introduce my readers to authors I like.

I also started Book Review Monday and so far three weeks have been posted. This is one of my favorite parts about the new blog.

In the name of research (LOL! God I love that!) I read throughout the week. Usually two to three ebooks then whatever books I am reading with my daughter at night. I like sharing my thoughts on books. It hard sometimes to find books out there that you can purchase and know you will like. Because come on, money is tight and we don’t want to waste it.

A lot of authors I found complain about promo. I guess I’m just not there yet. I enjoy it. I love chats and talking back and forth with readers and other authors.

And I love giving away books- There is no better feeling when someone wins your book and goes on to Thank you. With so many good books out there it gives people the chance to view your work.

So remember just because your book is published does not mean it will jump in sales. You need to connect with people. If you are genuine to your readers I think you will find long term people who will stick with you through your career.

Besides it’s just fun!

My thoughts- Oops I did it again!

One of these days I will learn not to start a series from author Carol Lynne in the middle of the series. I did it with three or four other series of hers and Yes each time I have to go back and get all of the books before it.

The reason- because I enjoy the books so much I have to read about the characters when they were first introduced.

I am a fan of Carol Lynne. She is one of my favorite M/M authors and I will tell you why.
There is no other writer out there that can make me totally care for a character the way she can. She hooked me and grabbed my heart because the men in the books grabbed me.

Not sure how she does it but I know when I read about a character of hers I will love them.
So I bought the four books in the Refuge Shifter series. Started with book three then went back and read one, two, and four. Each book was well written and I liked the story lines. It’s been moved into my fav series folder. Will go back and reread again, probably soon.

Book Reviewed- Running Hot by Stephani Hecht

My Thoughts- This is a hot quick book.

James and Calvin’s relationship goes from zero to off the chart quickly and is hot enough to leave everything else behind.

Good Read

Although I would have loved to read more about them. Their struggles and so on. If the book had been longer and we’d moved on further than the first step of their relationship I think I would have enjoyed it more.

My thoughts-
I was a little iffy about reading this book but it had really good ratings so I decided to give it a try.

I was curious about how the author would broach the subject about a man who lost his lover and falling in love with the now deceased lover’s brother years later.

The book was well written. I was glad that the author gave the characters good backgrounds and detailed on the feelings they had instead of just making the men jump into bed together.

I actually liked the characters in the book. I could see myself reading them in other books or situations. But in the end it didn’t work for me.

Maybe it was because we jumped a week in a chapter or a month at times but I still don’t see the reality of it.

Doesn’t mean it wasn’t good, however. Like I said the book was well written and I did like the characters. I am thinking about getting a hold of something else by the author to see if I enjoy other characters better.

Blog Series- Press Send Part 3

Once again we are back to talk about e-publsihing. I want to Thank you for joining me for week three of my five week blog series.

Last time we left off at getting contracts on four books-

By the time I contracted my first four books I was proud and very happy to find a home with Total-E-Bound. Now a year later that has not changed. Throughout the last year I have heard several publishers who their authors are not happy with. It looks like I found a home right where I needed to be.

At the time I started to get a little more knowledge about being published a lot was going on in my life. Abby was starting school, Hubby was past second back surgery and still not recovering, and I started a new job. (The job that I currently hold.) Now I am lucky on the job front. I have a good job, I enjoy working in the accounting department, like the people I work with. It is an 8-5 job were I am busy all day (more than busy actually.)

So now that I am happy at work and hubby is home to take care of my little one we get into a routine.

Now I prefer to write at night. Friday and Saturday nights are the best work I get done. I follow a basic rule. Write. Everyday, write.

A lot of aspiring authors have said they don't have time to write. Well I say make time. It's about what you want.

I still have a full time job and a full time family. Sometimes I have to give up going out to dinner or the movies. But everytime I get done with a manuscript it feels wonderful... and that is worth it.

Hubby and I also have a system. My computer is right next to him with he TV between us. So I can write on a Friday night during the night and into the early morning and he is there with me. I've learned to ignore the TV and three dogs and it works for us.

I also get my daughter involved. Everytime your name goes into a hat- Abby picks the winner. Names of contest? Yep, there she is again. It will be a long long time before she would be able to read any of my books, if ever, so I get her involved in other ways.

She wanted the dogs involved so in Magical Menage I put in my two black labs Taz and Belle. She wanted her name used. So in the fourth book in the were chronicles- there is an Abigail.
Now onto contracts. All contracts should be easy to read and understand.

Tip # 4-

As you get your first contracts Don't be afraid to ask questions!

Now is the time. Your new to publishing and your editor and publisher knows this. They will be more patient (or they should be) take advantage and get your questions answered. If I'd never inquired about Seduced by the Neighbour it might have never been published.

Edits-

Take your time. Listen to what your editor says. You don't always have to change to what they are suggesting but listen. It might make your work even better.

I'm happy to report that now with eleven publsihed works I have gotten soooooooo much better. I have less edits each time. This is a goal for me. To improve with each manuscript. As I strive to make each book better than the last this isn't always easy. Luckily I have a wonderful editor who gives me all the time I need.

Tip #5- Connect with your editor.

My editor is on yahoo messanger with me. We are able to message back and forth and discuss what is going on with my books. Having the support she offers means everything to me.
Research- a lot goes into getting publsihed. It is important to know what you want. If you want a fictional world create one that others will love. If you are being more realistic- prove it. Write what you know. Read and research what you don't.

Part of my royalties each month go to research. Yes, that's my excise to spend money on books. And hubby lets me! Lol!

What do you like to read? Why? Remember the people that are reading the books you are will probably read yours. You can pick up a lot from a book. Esp a book from the publishing company you want to be published with.

Look at the genres they publish. Will your book fit in. Are they trying for a new direction? You don't want to get stuck with someone who will be moving to only wrotic books if you write sweet romance. Pay attention to the updates on there sites.

It's Monday morning once again... Let's talk books. With all of the new books coming out last month and this month iy may be hard to choose where to spend your money.

Today I will share my reviews of three more books I've read recently and hopefully you can find something that catches your eye. Join me for my reviews for Rhianne Aile, Sean Michael, and Stormy Glenn.

Book Reviewed: Cursed by Rhianne Aile

My thoughts- I loved this book. While it took me a few days to read (which I love) I could not wait to get to it. It gave me something to look forward to at the end of the day.
The book starts off with a bang and does not let up. In over 200 pages there was not a moment that the story lagged.
　
I liked the twist of a cursed werewolf, pack werewolf, and etc. How Benjamin wasn’t accepted by the local pack because he was cursed. How the Alpha’s mate navigated how to help Benjamin. The people in the manor who knew and kept the secret. I want a Mary to take care of me when I’m ill.
This was a great shifter story, plus love, humor, hot M/M loving, and more.
　
After I read this I immediately went out and bought the second book with Tristin’s brother Will. Last night I already read over 50 pages of the second book. I really hope there are more books in this series. While I can see how there can be just two with the twins there are so many more characters I’d like to see what happened with. I feel this series could go many more books and I would buy every one.
I may have found another MUST read author. And I’m thrilled.

Book Reviewed- Unlikely Hero by Sean Michael

My Thoughts- From the moment you start to read this book it draws you in and holds on tight.
It’s been nine years since Eric has left Brock but with the kidnapping of his daughter he has no choice but to call on him. I like the fact that as we get deeper involved in the story the twists and turns have you sitting on the edge of your chair. One of the best plots I’ve read in a long time.
This isn’t what I would call an erotic book. While there does turn out to be some hot and steamy m/m loving, this book is more about the story.

And I for one can appreciate that.

While sometimes you just want to read hot steamy romance it is good to have a choice of a book like this. Where you can sit back and enjoy while just leaving the world behind.
I do urge you to give this book a read- I don’t think you’ll be let down.

But the more he gets to know Zane, the more Jiri wants something more. He wants Zane to want him for him, and not just as a pet. But before Jiri can convince Zane of his desire, an attack comes from The Night Dwellers, one that could destroy them both.

My Thoughts: Once again Author Stormy Glenn had combined M/M romance, the Master/ slave relationship, and otherworld stories into one great hot read.

From Jiri’s innocent exploration to Zane’s possessiveness I got pulled into the book and read it in one setting. Both main characters were likable and well written and the supporting characters give you something to look forward too.

I hope to see Slash and Billy’s story soon. I look forward to reading more about the biker gang that while is tough and violent needs what we all do. Love.

Blog Series- Press Send Part 2

“PRESS SEND- PART 2”

Welcome back! Last week I talked about how long I’ve been writing and how I learned about eBooks. This week is all about submitting that first submission.

At the job I had back in 2008 I was able to write during the day without a lot of interruption. While it was very boring I was able to dig deep down and write.

After reading about several authors on MySpace I started to research e-publishers. I narrowed down three that I thought I might fit into. I went through their submissions guidelines and noticed two out of three have special projects (or call for submissions.)

Now I’m a planner. I have notebook, index cards, storylines, characters pages, etc all over my desk. I am not good, however, at staying with my notes. Lol! The stories just kind of take over. Easily influenced I guess.

So I set up when I needed to have the manuscripts done. The deadlines started in June and went from there. So I worked solid for four months, day and night, and wrote. I had the stories in my head. It was just a matter of getting them down.

Well I got three stories done.

Learning formats-

And every publisher wanted a different format. From line spaces to font. I sent out my submissions and waited.

And waited and waited and waited. (IF you know what I mean!)

During this period I wrote another story. I saw that one of the publishers that I had already submitted with was having a call for submissions. For their Halloween line.
With the fourth book finished I submitted.

So if you’re counting that is four submissions out. All in the summer of 2008.
August came around and I got my first rejection letter. I won’t lie- I cried. Just a basic letter stated there wasn’t a place for my manuscript with them. Not terribly bad but damn… Luckily I have a good support system. My dad you has seen his share of rejections and my husband who believes I can do anything anyway.

So okay 1 rejection. We’ll call that E. I reopened it and started to edit. To see if I can make it better. The end of August comes and I’m sitting at my desk one night playing around on the internet. I have yahoo messenger. Up pops up when you have a new message. It was a response to my submission.

It was a response to the fourth manuscript I sent out. I hold my breath and open it. Then start screaming, scaring the daylights out of hubby! I was offered a contract! Oh my God! I was offered a contract.

However I can’t share my news because I am hyper ventilating. After I calm down- and yes I’m crying again, I explain to hubby, call my dad, dance around, scream some more. (You know the normal stuff.) Then rely to the email. Oh yeah, kind of important to let them know that YES! The work is still available and yes I’d love for Total-E-Bound to publish it.
Yep, I said Total-E-Bound. My current publisher. They contracted my first book Savage Love and for release in October 2008.

Next week we will talk about the contract and edits but for now let’s get back to the submissions.
So now I have 1 rejection and I contract- that still leaves two out there. I start to work with my editor (who after a year I can honestly say damn she’s good.) I go through two edits with her before it is sent to the line editor. I find out what exactly British English means- although sometimes I still have issues.

This was a pretty long process. As I am getting ready for my release it dawns on me that I still have two submissions out there.

Yes I was extremely busy. One I was pretty sure was rejected. It had been for a Halloween special project. Since the time was closing fast I knew deep down I wasn’t going to get that one. The second was the first manuscript I had sent to Total-E-Bound.

So as I am emailing back and forth with my editor I ask her. It had been over three months.
Tip #3- Manuscripts/ Submissions get lost

Most publishers will give a deadline on how long it takes for them to respond. I have seen some from 2 weeks up till 3 months- so keep that in mind!

After that time has expired. SEND a nice quick email to inquire if they received it. Don’t go on and on but simply ask.

It turns out that my first submission to TEB was not found. I was asked to resubmit it. The neat thing about getting a foot in the door at one of the publishers is you no longer have to submit stories to the mass. It goes directly with the editor you work with.

Savage Love was released! And soon after that I received an email for a contract on the manuscript that I had resubmitted to TEB. At that time I sold Seduced by the Neighbour. My second book with TEB that was released in March for 2009.

I was still writing. I had edited the manuscript E that had been rejected and sent it to two new publishers. Still no word on the manuscript I had submitted for the Halloween call.
I made myself a goal. I wanted to have five books released in 2009.

So I concentrated and those.

Then the world shakes. You know that job that I went to and it gave me time to write? Yes, well obviously they were not doing well and I got laid off.

But it gets worse. Two weeks later Hubby is laid off.

Now I would like nothing more than stay home and write however that’s not going to happen. But luckily we have savings and it is decided for me to take a month off to spend with my daughter. So hey I get a vacation, right.

At this time I give up on my submission for the Halloween and after going through it and making some changes I submitted it to my editor at TEB. I can’t believe when they jump at the chance to release it.

I sign the contract and we continue to work on edits.

Now, did you get my tip a few paragraphs up? About emailing a publisher. Well here is another reason why.

When I submitted The Halloween manuscript I named the book Pack Alpha. Sound familiar? Lol! My bestselling book so far!

Well anyway, in the subject line is Submission: Halloween 2008 ----- -----

The lines for the publisher’s series name. I don’t want to get into who the publisher is. But I have already signed the contract for Pack Alpha with TEB and already went through the first set of edits. And seven months later I heard about my submission.

Yes she would like to offer a contract for Pack Alpha for the Halloween 2009 series. So I email her and quickly Thank her but let her know that I have already accepted a contract for it. Now in her email she responded to my original submission from seven months ago. Way past the three months they state.
And I think that’s the end of that but

NO she emails me back. Oh look I’ve pissed a publisher off. And all I wrote was Thank you for opportunity but at this time the manuscript has been contracted elsewhere. I hope you work with you in the future.

Did I say anything about contacting me seven months later? Nope but she obviously felt the end to inform me how submitting a manuscript works. I won’t share it all but tell you that it is customary to let people know when the submission has been contracted so they don’t waste their time.

And while I understand that. Really I do… I waited months until I submitted it elsewhere. The project that I submitted it for had already been released two months before. So I write her back.
Hey I’m a Texan- we have tempers. As nicely as I can I explain to her that I understand her position however after seven months instead of the three months stated I took it as a rejection. Or hey it could’ve gotten lost right? Oh I also remind her that I am a reader! In the final email back to me she is a little nicer. Tells me they’d be interested in seeing more of my work if I can guarantee they’d have first rights to it.

Biting my tongue there!!!

So we are back to the tip about emailing after the stated time for submission reviews to avoid situations like this.

Lesson learned the hard way.

So we are up to three books contracted- savage Love, Seduced by the Neighbour, and Pack Alpha.

By the way we still are at four total rejections for the manuscript we are calling E. Damn that books not doing well at all!!!

Every Monday I will be reviewing at least I book I read and most of the time more. Usually I read about two eBooks and week plus what print book I am into. At this time my daughter and I are reading The Twilight Series together. So it may be some time before that review comes. But not to worry I am still reading through my To be read pile of eBooks.

This week I will be posting three book reviews. Authors include T.A. Chase, JC Owens, and Stephani Hecht.

Reviewed Book: Wings by J.C. Owens

My Thoughts- I enjoyed this book. I bought it because I read the book Gaven from this author. While I did enjoy Gaven much more I can honestly say that this book is good. The characters have depth and are likable. Even when your not sure whether you should like them or not.
The sex scenes were good. Put in at the right places and not just for the sake of having sex.
This book had a plot and a good ending. The ending was probably my favorite part.

I would recommend this book.

Book reviewed: A Feral Christmas by Stephani Hecht

My Rating- 4/5

My thoughts- I enjoy two series from this author. I like both her Drone Vampire Chronicles and the Lost shifter series. This book is actually part of the lost shifter series. It took me a few chapters to remember who Brent was again, while he was in the first book, I had the series confused and was thinking he was part of the drone vampires.

However that did not hurt anything. This author does a wonderful job at describing the characters. You get right into how they feel and their thoughts. The book starts with action and of course has the needed heat between the two main characters.

I mean a cat shifter and a bird shifter? Awesome!

Both books in the Lost shifter series from Ms. Hecht were fabulous. I can see myself rereading this one and I’ve already read the first book twice.

Short, steamy, and great book. Go out and buy it!

Book reviewed- No Going Home: Book 1 of Home Series by TA Chase

My thoughts- I am a big fan of TA Chase. I enjoy her dragons series, love her of love of sports series, look forward to more of the The Preternaturals series, and can’t wait for more of Nowhere diner series. I looked at this book a couple times. Couldn’t decide if it was what I was looking to read.

I am so glad I did!

The blurb did nothing for this book. This is one awesome read. The characters from the main men to the background are wonderfully written. The sex scenes were scorching hot and sensitive at the same time.

I enjoyed this book so much that I immediately went and got the second book and am liking it even more.

This is a must read!

Hi everyone. I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by my blog for my five week blog series. Follow me from the beginning to where I am now. Hopefully you might pick up some ideas. Hey, maybe you can even give some!

Now with all that out of the way let’s get started.

One question I always get is- how long have I been writing.

My answer- Forever.

Or at least it seems like it. Okay a little background here.

My dad (who will be mentioned a lot) has been an aspiring writer my entire life. As a child he wrote children books. This is one of my best memories. He would write after I went to bed. The next night he would read me what he wrote. I still remember the airplane story with the dog.

So me being a daddy’s girl wanted to be just like him. At about eleven or twelve (my own daughter’s age) I started writing short stories in a spiral notebook. (Yes I still have the spirals.)
Writing has always been in my life. Reading too for that matter. But more on that later.
Anyway, so I have always written as a hobby or for school projects.

I started my first manuscript for submission in the Spring of 2008. It was published October of 2008.

Second question I get a lot- Why e-publishing?

My answer- Why not?

So there I was after leaving a job I hated for nine years at a new job. Where I basically answered the phone and sat there. Talk about your long and boring days.

That is when I got back into reading. I always had a book with me as a child/ teenager. But after having my daughter I hadn’t read a book in years. My sister introduced me to the Stephanie Plum books. Which I loved. But my sister-in-law introduced me to other books. Books with a little more HOTNESS! Which I looooooooved!!!!!

Since I was able to read at work I started to find authors I liked, then loved, and then couldn’t live without. Hello Nora Roberts/ JD Robb, Christine Feehan, Angela Knight, and Emma Holly.
But… like most good things I had two problems.

1. We don’t have a bookstore in my town. I know, it should illegal not have a good bookstore. But our Walden’s in the mall closed down years ago.

2. My second problem, damn books cost a lot of money.

While I am at this job I also get into social networking. Namely- MySpace.

And WOW I am introduced to e-books.

I start grabbing them up! E-books are much more affordable than most of the hardcover books out there. I find genres I really like and authors become my favorite. But esp. I find certain sites I like to buy from. (You know publishers)

So when I decided to write my own e-book of course I went to my favorite publisher’s website to see their submission guidelines.

So here is your first HINT for submitting.

Ask yourself-

Would I buy an e-book from them?

Do they have a good updated website? How long have they been in business?

Do they have new releases weekly, monthly, that is also important. You don’t want your book sitting there 12 months waiting to be published after you have a contract.

Are their submission guidelines straight forward? Can you understand what they want?

And most of all- Buy some of their books and see what they publish! That is the best way to check to see if they do a good job editing the book, and any problems you find, now keep in mind there is always room for human error. But if every page in the book has a typo there is a problem.

After a couple of months of reading the 15-25k stories I just knew I could do it. Lol! If I only knew then. But I sat down and during the day job had seven hours to get my story down. And I wrote and wrote and wrote.

And learned more about myself than I thought I would ever. Who knew I had a problem finishing things!

Tip #2-

Are you on the social networking? Myspace, Facebook, yahoo groups, etc. If you are- start friending authors. If you are interested in e-publishing read their blogs. There are several authors who posted about being published that really helped me.

Yahoo Groups- This is the best way to read what is happening in the publishing world. Get involved, ask questions, if won't hurt- trust me.

Does your favorite author have a website or blog? Check it out! I found on one author's website where she had posted email addresses for agents and publishers she recommended.

So there you have how long I have been writing and some tips on picking an e-publisher. Next week join me for how I submitted my first manuscripts. Three went out in a week. One got contracted.

I am excited to announce that my book Magical Menage will be out in print on Nov2, 2009.

This is my first print book so I am super excited!

The sheriff was a werewolf, the town mayor was a vampire, and the firechief a witch. All the creatures who call this place home had the protection ofnot only the town but of all of its residents.

Madison Montgomery watched as the first snowflakes of the year fell outside the door of her bookstore. She loved this time of year—when the end of fall came andthe first days of winter were upon them.The town sheriff drove by in his SUV, and Madison stepped away from the window.

She'd been avoiding Sheriff Tom since last winter, when on New Year's they'dshared a deep sensual kiss. It had heated her blood and body and left her achingfor more.

By the look on his face, he'd also been surprised by the kiss. Normally this wouldn't have a problem, but Madison had also shared a kiss with another man—Dante—and that had thrown her through a loop.

Dante was the MasterVampire to the others in the area. He was like a father to them, connected by the sharing of blood.
